Bebek in Balinese refers to duck. Bengil refers to dirty.
It was interesting to know how the restaurant got it's name.
Bebek Bengil was named during the construction of this restaurant. Few days before the opening, the owner was still thinking of a name for his restaurant. It is located between padi fields. One night, the construction team was working late and it was raining heavily. The doors were not closed properly that night.
The next morning, when they came in to work, they found many footprints and it was dirty everywhere. From the floors to the kitchen and even the tables. Taking a closer look, they realized that it was the footprints of a duck. The ducks came from the padi fields.
Looking at the mess, an idea struck the owner. So, he named his restaurant BEBEK BENGIL.
